As the flagship facility in Southern California, Shriners for Children Medical Center in Pasadena serves as both an outpatient surgergy and clinic complex. Designed by CO Architects and SRG Partnerships and opened in July 2017, both the interior and exterior of the three-story medical center are focused on creating a compelling healing environment. Fitting to theme, the dual projection WallFX in the main lobby helps to do just that. As Healthcare Design Magazine put's it, the interactive wall "draws kids into the space". Offering touch-free gesture controlled games and interactive applications like floating balloons or underwater aquariums with reactive fish and rippling water, the WallFX helps patients and families engage in positive distractive play. As most parents and staff would agree, a welcoming environment is the first step towards a positive patient experience.
